i think I am getting internet for free from linksys EVEN though they have password protection how is that??

Most likely, you are not connected to the encrypted router you think you are. There are lots of wireless networks around these days.

I tried hooking up my laptop to wireless internet and it recognizes the router, but it says there is a limited connection and doesn’t allow me to go on the internet. Anyone have any ideas?

At the bottom right side (next to the time, in the task bar) you should find an icon for the connections stuff. right click on it and select the first option, "Connect". a submenu will apear showing all the available networks. click on your network of choice and enter any keys it might ask and…. that’s all! as simple as that.

I didn’t need to install any driver, Vista did it all for me.

The LIMITED CONNECTION means you have access only to the local network and not to the so called Internet. don;t bother about it. if you are able to open any website, then you should be fine and Vista should correct itself soon. it happens to me sometimes that Vista shows the limited connection stuff while everything seems fine.

I have a laptop with wireless internet (via PCI card). It also has WLAN. Can I somehow use this to connect to my PSP (using a software to act as an Access Point)?
Or would I need to buy one separately?

Im not aware of any method to teather your psp to your laptop in order to share a connection without hacking your psp. The laptop can run in ICS which is Internet Sharing Connection which would split your connection for use with other PCs or even home consoles like a PS3 but the psp doesnt work that way. The safest option would be to get either a wireless router or a wifi signal broadcaster like nintendo made when the DS came out (it works for all devices like PCs and Consoles) which basically functions as just portable wireless router. If you’re willing to tinker with the PSP’s hardware and firmware you can research 3rd party OS’s to install on it like Linux that might let you accomplish what you wanted to do originally but if you ask me, the risk isnt worth the benefit and you might save in the long run by shelling out $40 for a router.

Try removing the network connection, and setting it up manually in the control panel. Then configure it to your wireless router.

Is your computer XP or Vista?

Your routers IP should not be 192.168.0.x it should be 192.168.(1-10)*.1
So disconnect you router from your Internet connection and plug you PC directly to it nothing attached…And change the routers IP to 192.168.(1-10).1
*(1-10) = Just pick a number between 1 and 10

Your routers IP picks it up as Unidentified because it may have an irregular IP for a router which a router is classified as a "Local" or "Private" network.

If the printer is wireless, all you need to do is install it. Do a search with your wireless system for the device. You PC should find it and prompt you to install it. No router is necessary

you will need to configure your router. Type in 192.168.1.1 into web page. It is the IP address of the router. There you can name and set the password for your wireless router. When that is done turn on the wifi on the laptop and do a search for available networks. Find your and add it.

just buy a Ethernet cable [ the one that looks like a phone jack but slightly wider] and plug it into your laptop. You can find them at most places that sell electronic cables.
